Yeah, I know what you’re thinking. But hear me out.
Cammy’s my best friend. The one person I can’t live without. The girl with the sunshine smile, the loaded fridge, and the most awesome kid I’ve ever met. I loved Rux and Cammy’s story! It was hot and sexy and they were clearly MFEO but OMG, the angst between these two (when they weren’t otherwise occupied, that is)! And it was 100% Rux’s fault, because holy schmoly did he have REASONS.
For which I wanted to smack him upside the head. Hard. Twice…

I mean, sure he was up front(ish) with her about not being “the type” to get married and have kids, but it took him forever to tell her why. Like seriously, forever. And then he only did so because his hand was forced–and then IMHO it wasn’t nearly as bad as it sounded like it was going to be from his internal dialog, which is good.
But still. Geesh, dude.
Once you get past their silly insistence that off-the-charts chemistry and smoking hot sexy times is just something that good friends do and eventually they’ll just go back to being benefit-less friends (ha!) you’re left with a delightful friends-to-lovers story plus an adorable kid and an ex who I magically didn’t want to throttle once it was over (for a while there, it was tempting. But he got over it with only slight bodily harm). Plus all the rest of the Slayers are here, and the significant others of those who have already gotten their HEAs, and there’s HOCKEY, so I don’t know what else you could possibly want. Except maybe the next book, ASAP? 😉
This is the third book in the Slayers Hockey series, but it could work as a standalone. The book it’s most closely connected to is Dirty Player from her Back to You series, since Cammy is Julia’s sister and Rux is Greg’s teammate and best friend–and of course that’s the only one I haven’t read yet (but I will ASAP!)–so you should be fine starting here. But I believe I mentioned they’re hockey players? So, yeah, getting them all on your TBR wouldn’t be a bad idea. 🙂
