Release Day Review! A SECRET SEDUCTION by Lana Williams (The Mayfair Literary League #8)

A Secret Seduction by Lana Williams cover

The final installment in The Mayfair Literary League…

A game of seduction…

Millicent Davies, marching toward spinsterhood at an alarming clip, is terrified by her father’s plan to arrange a marriage sooner than later. She’s determined to decide her own fate, but the charming man with the devil-may-care smile who has captured her heart is hell-bent on remaining single.

Winston Chadwick, Marquess of Linford, intends to evade the marriage noose, but not because he’s the carefree rogue the ton assumes him to be. His parents’ tumultuous union taught Winston a harsh lesson that letting anyone in only leads to pain.

Where winner takes all…

With encouragement from her friends in The Mayfair Literary League, Millie takes every opportunity to flirt, her clumsy attempts revealing a depth of emotion in Winston that makes her want him all the more. A steamy kiss convinces her that a secret seduction might lead to lasting love, despite her doubt that he could fall for a bookish wallflower.

Winston finds himself captivated by Millie, her beauty and cleverness sparking a longing he doesn’t dare acknowledge. While the innocence in her cobalt eyes belies her bold actions, both capture his affection. Her insistence that only marriage will do should have him running the other way. If only he could…

Review:

Absolutely lovely! A perfect ending to a delightful series <3

Millicent Davies has been watching friend after friend–all members of the Mayfair Literary League, of course–make bold moves and find love before her. She’s even found someone of her own she’s tempted to try for, but her three older sisters’ arranged marriages and her own lack of suitors thus far have made her unsure of her ability to find love. When her father finds a potential groom, however, she is spurred into action–the more time she spends with her father’s choice, the less time she wants to spend with him.

The opposite is the case with Winston Chadwick, Marquess of Linford and her good friend’s brother. And he seems to return her affection–or does he? Linford swears he’s not ready to marry yet, but Millicent begins to suspect that there’s far more to the man than appears on the surface–is it possible that something has happened to make him doubt himself? Or is she only seeing what she wants to see?

I loved watching Millicent and Linford gain confidence in themselves and find the resolve to tell the other how they were feeling. Pretty much in the absolute nick of time–but hey, they got to their HEA at last, and it was glorious. With a nice and steamy epilogue to boot. Perfect end to the series!

A Secret Seduction *could* be read as a standalone, but to fully appreciate Millicent, Linford, and their journey to their HEA, reading the series in order (along with Millicent’s cousin’s book, The Wallflower Wager ) is a better choice.
