IF YOU CLAIM ME
by Helena Hunting
Toronto Terror #5
Release Date: November 6th

Hockey’s most hated player just asked me to marry him.

Connor Grace is the league’s bad boy–and my best friend’s worst enemy.

He’s the fallen prince of a famous hotel chain dynasty.

Me? I’m the foster kid who grew up to be a librarian.

I never thought I’d end up in a marriage of convenience to make someone’s grandma happy, but here we are.

I have no plans to kiss my husband for any reason other than show.

I have no plans to fall in love with the arrogant man dressed in a custom suit hiding intricate tattoos.

But when we’re alone, he drops the mask he wears for the rest of the world.

He holds me like he means it when he says I’m his. And I want to believe him.

Too bad I learned early on that fairytales aren’t real, and nothing good lasts forever.

Review:

Absolutely loved Connor and Dred’s book!

TBH the premise was a bit out there–the infamous I need to keep my sick grandma happy and therefore alive by being in a [fake] relationship trope + damsel in (financial) distress = fake marriage with a contract (but make it between hockey’s most hated player and the world’s sweetest and most dedicated librarian)–but I was here for it! We had plenty of hints at what was coming in previous books, but I still was not totally prepared for these two…in the best way.

In terms of financial and family status, Connor and Dred’s childhood couldn’t have been more different, and yet they somehow ended up with such similar wounds–and it almost tore them apart. Seriously, I spent so much of this book totally stressed out by how much the two of them weren’t saying to each other (and really needed to!), it’s not even funny. But once they got their heads out of their posteriors (OK, mostly Connor here) and let themselves learn to trust, OMG was it ever glorious!

I listened to the audio version, which was fabulously done in the duet style–absolutely recommend if you’re an audiobook listener; both narrators did a great job. Though *technically* this could be read as a standalone, you’ll miss out on most of the background/inside jokes, so I wouldn’t recommend it (in the case of Rix’s crisper, though, this might be a good thing? #iykyk)

We found out something pretty surprising about Flip, Dred’s BFF here–fingers crossed his book is next, because I’m not sure how much longer I can wait for it!
