Who needs mistletoe?

Most people wouldn’t think of a bad Santa case as the perfect Christmas gift. Then again, Molly Malone, office manager at Hunt Investigations, isn’t most people, and she could really use a distraction from the fantasies she’s been having since spending the night with her very secret crush, Lucas Knight. Nothing happened, not that Lucas knows that—but Molly just wants to enjoy being a little naughty for once . . .

Whiskey and pain meds for almost-healed bullet wounds don’t mix. Lucas needs to remember that next time he’s shot on the job, which may be sooner rather than later if Molly’s brother, Joe, finds out about them. Lucas can’t believe he’s drawing a blank on his (supposedly) passionate tryst with Molly, who’s the hottest, smartest, strongest woman he’s ever known. Strong enough to kick his butt if she discovers he’s been assigned to babysit her on her first case. And hot enough to melt his cold heart this Christmas . . .

Review:

OMG–Lucas! and Molly! So worth the wait 🙂

Molly–kinda, sorta–finally gets a chance to investigate a case (it’s almost with her boss’s approval…), the “bad Santa” case the blurb hints at. It’s pretty much everything you hope it will be–pretty dangerous, with a side of slightly ridiculous (OMG, the elf costumes. And the geriatric co-workers…) and Lucas is exactly the partner that she needs for the job. He doesn’t tell her “it’s too dangerous” or coddle her like her brother and boss probably would have, and she returns the favor by not being TSTL throughout. I won’t tell you who saves the day in the end, but it’s not him. 😉

On top of that, their chemistry (of course!) is the reason for the “hot winter nights” of the title. When those two are on the page–even if it’s a page that she happens to be less than happy with him on–just. Watch. Out. I can’t wait for future series books, and not just to see what’s in store for the rest of the gang but also to get more glimpses of Molly and Lucas as they live out their HEA. I love this group of characters! 🙂

Hot Winter Nights, like the rest of the books in the series, should work just fine as a standalone. Although all of the characters that Ms. Shalvis has created for this series are constantly up in each others’ business (in a good way! Kind of…) you don’t have to have read the other books to appreciate this one.

I’m not saying you won’t want to, though…
