He’s the terror of the ton…

The plan is simple:

  1. Descend from the Highlands to face the aggravation of a London Season;
  2. Foist his wild sister off on some gullible English lord;
  3. Retreat before the ladies of the scandalized ton can get any ideas.

Determined to see his hellion of a sister wed, Highlander Alexander Waters is willing to face anything—even the English. He just didn’t expect his own rough manners to cause such a riot…or for a blooming English rose to catch his eye.

Gently bred Catherine Middlebrook must find a respectable man to marry or her family will be ruined. She won’t allow herself to be distracted by Highland barbarians…no matter how her body may thrill whenever Alex is near.

Catherine wasn’t part of the plan, but as their battle of wills escalates, Alex comes to realize this “proper” English girl is as wild as the Highlands themselves…and nothing will stop him from having her.

Exclusive Snippet:

Alex did not speak again but moved over to her side of the carriage, blocking her in with his body so that she was trapped between him and the door. She knew she should ask him to move back. If she pressed the issue, she was certain that he would obey her. But the heat of his body was like Mary Elizabeth’s magic elixir. It seemed to rob her of her good judgment and her better reasoning. It left her instead with a hunger for something like chocolate cake.

She had missed dessert altogether. Perhaps what Alexander Waters offered her now was something altogether sweeter.

Loved it! How is it that I’ve never read anything by Christy English before? By the time I got to the 75% mark, I’d already added her entire backlist to my TBR–and I absolutely cannot wait until book 2 in the series ( How to Wed a Warrior is out! Not to mention Mary Elizabeth’s book…. (fingers crossed that it will be out soon:)) Heck, I even want to see “his Lordship of Love” find his HEA…

I really enjoyed Ms. English’s style of writing–she took us right into Catherine and Alex’s heads. Alex’s especially was so much fun–the way he referred to Catherine’s mother as “Mrs. Angel” for the entire book (Catherine being the original “angel” of course) and his nicknames for Lord Farleigh, Catherine’s other suitor, made me smile. “Lord Somebody-Or-Other”, “Lord What’s-It”, “Lord Whose-It”, “Lord MambyPamby”, “Lord Loverboy” to name a few–just too funny! Underneath it all, though, he was such a great guy. There for his family, protective of Catherine, her mother and sister…

“I thought you were apologizing,” she said.

“I was apologizing,” he said, sounding like someone else altogether. “I am apologizing.”

Catherine felt his weakness as he leaned against her. It seemed he was fighting himself. No doubt he wanted to kiss her again, as much as she wished him to, if not more. For the first time in her life, she felt a heady sense of power. She was not the only one brought low by her obsession with him. It seemed that her hulking Highlander was just as obsessed with her.

“Then why did you stop?”

“I am reminding myself that I am a gentleman.”

This quick, romantic, charming story is just what I needed to celebrate the end of the semester!
