I was minding my business. Literally. I promised my dad I’d take care of the Wilder family adventure business in our little Oregon town of Rush Creek, which also means looking out for my mom, my sister, and my rowdy co-workers, AKA my brothers.
Now the business is in trouble. Overnight, Rush Creek has become a spa-and-wedding destination, and the new tourists aren’t interested in getting dirty—or at least not in the woods.
Then Lucy comes to town, all blond hair and silky blouses and spike heels. It’s her job to give Wilder Adventures a makeover. Camping to glamping, rafting to paddle board yoga, fishing trips to girls’ night sunset cruises. If she gets her way, Wilder Adventures will become Wilder Romantic Adventures.
Lucy hates small towns, getting messy, and anything involving the woods or the water—which pretty much makes her Not My Type.
That doesn’t explain why when I see her, I can’t look away. Why when I touch her, I can’t stop. And why, even though I know no one can talk a city girl into small town life, I’m still trying.
She’s driving me wild. All I can do is make her wilder.

THIS BOOK. It gave me allllllll the feels, you guys.
That opening scene, when Lucy completely humiliates herself at work? I swear, I had a full body cringe for her with 100% secondary embarrassment. Every single shower scene? Had me fanning myself like a madwoman (totally unrelated to the 80+ degree weather here today, I swear!) The black moment? Just about crushed me. Hand to God, I had to walk away from my ereader for a few minutes to collect myself. The epiphany Lucy has while on the phone with Amanda? Brought TEARS to my eyes. And the you-don’t-know-it’s-a-grand-gesture-until-it’s-almost-over scene? Almost made me clap my hands. (But I didn’t. Because I would have dropped my ereader, and that would have slowed down my reading at a part I did NOT want to slow down at.)
And then there’s the bonus scene (available for the low, low price of signing up for her newsletter–link is at the end of the book), which again, nearly had me clapping/endangering my ereader again. And don’t get me started on the sneak peek at Brody and Rachel’s book, Walk on the Wilder Side…
Make Me Wilder is the first book in Ms Bell’s Wilder Adventures series, so if you haven’t read any of her books yet, it’s the perfect place to start! It’s a fish-out-of-water and opposites attract story, though as Lucy and Gabe will discover along the way, they actually have more in common than they thought. It’s sweet and sexy, set in a small Oregon town populated with wonderful characters and at least one adorable family of ducks. And did I mention it’s the first in a new series?
I absolutely loved Lucy and Gabe. Ms Bell had me laughing out loud, especially during Lucy’s chapters–her POV just spoke to me, though Gabe’s wasn’t too shabby either! It was so much fun watching Lucy be absorbed into the Wilder family one outdoor adventure at a time, vomit and all 😉 (You may think I’m joking. I am not joking–there’s quite a bit here, lol. But it *does* all serve a purpose, at least.) And the glimpses we get of the other Wilder brothers? Makes me want their books noooooow. (And maybe even a make-their-marriage-magic-again book for Amanda? Pleeeeease?)
So if you’re looking for an armchair adventure with a side of swoon this weekend, lace up your hiking boots and look no further. Wilder Adventures await!
