Release Day Review! DIRTY GROOM by Mira Lyn Kelly (Slayers Hockey #7)

Dirty Groom cover

It seems like a solid plan…
• Get hitched, Vegas style.
• Lose each other’s numbers, permanently.
• Avoid pitfalls of real marriage forever.
…Until I sober up, and my wife is already gone.

It’s what we agreed to. But I don’t like it.

A year later, I find her. I have another solid plan to undo our mistake.

Only now, I’m not so sure the cocktail napkin with our prenup can protect me from the one thing I swore I wouldn’t do… fall in love.

Review:

I loved Stormy and Liam’s story! Dirty Christmas, Stormy’s sister Misty’s and Liam’s teammate Noel’s story, was a heck of a teaser for it (if it’s been a while since you’ve read it, I recommend a quick re-read before starting this one. It’s short ;)) and this was 100% worth the wait!

Though I still don’t totally *get* Stormy’s thinking behind their secret marriage–I understand rebounding from a toxic relationship-turned-disaster and hooking up with the hot stranger in Vegas, but what was being married but keeping it all a secret going to do for her, except maybe mentally?–I am 1000% here for the fake-it-until-we-make-it story this of course ends up being.

(Though thank goodness they end up repurposing their “same page” refrain, because my heart started hurting after a while with that one. Possibly even more than theirs were.)

It was so much fun watching them fall in love without even realizing it–and though yes, better communication might have helped them get to the correct “same page” a little sooner (or at least helped them to realize what page, exactly, they were both on) I honestly *almost* didn’t mind it. Come to think of it, if that would have meant the book would have been shorter, then I’m glad it took them longer to figure it out, because I wouldn’t have wanted this to be one page shorter! Now, how long do we have to wait for book 8? 🙂

Technically Dirty Groom could be read as a standalone, but it intertwines so nicely with Dirty Christmas and all, you really should read them both. And by that point, you might as well read the whole series 😉 #sorrynotsorry
