I liked this one!
Pompous Paramedic is a he-falls-first fake relationship, friends-to-lovers story set in Vegas. Zelda (named after Fitzgerald, not the princess) works for a fake wedding chapel (do these really exist? Vegas is definitely the place for it if they do) and a rather hilarious work incident puts her in the path of Ty, the “pompous paramedic.” It’s a tad bit instalove-ish, but not egregiously so–we definitely want these two crazy kids to get together, so it’s hard to get too worked up about it 😉
I liked the fake wedding aspect of their fake relationship–the reason why Ty initially thinks it’s real is believable, and his reasoning for why he can’t tell his mother the truth is well intentioned if a bit misguided. And I *loved* that Zelda spent time with his mom, even when Ty was doing an emotional runner from their relationship–and the role his mom played in helping him get over himself and back with Zelda.
And that epilogue–so much sweetness!
Ty’s cousin and Zelda’s BFF are clearly being set up for Ms Smith’s next book in the CHC, and I am here for it!
