BONUS DADDY
Daphne Elliot
Release Date: October 16

Jessica Mosely is the last woman I should be thinking about.

She was my college sweetheart. The one that got away. Now she’s back—in my office, looking like sunshine in yoga pants, and asking for my legal help. She’s back, and she brought her two daughters, who are convinced the Maine Coon cat forced upon me is some kind of Disney sidekick. (He’s not. He’s Satan with whiskers.)

I’m a grumpy over-forty lawyer who lives by rules and craves routine. Jess is chaos and coconut-scented optimism. Every time she smiles, I’m twenty again—and falling harder than ever.

She drags me to yoga and ropes me into karaoke. I’d do anything for her. Even drink the pickle smoothies her daughters whip up for me. Why? Because Jess makes me want to laugh louder, live messier, and risk everything for a second chance.

The question is—can a grumpy cat dad really become the bonus daddy she and her girls deserve?

Review:

So happy that Brian finally got his book!

Bonus Daddy is a second chance romance–Brian and Jess dated in college, then grew apart when he had to go home and help his sister (Dylan from Mother Maker ), when she had her baby. Now it’s years later–she’s a divorced mom to two really lovely girls, and he’s the family law attorney who will hopefully get the courts to approve her request to move to Vermont to start over with her kids.

The obstacles are built in–she’s his client, and his whole reason for working on her behalf is so that she can move away–and I’m not going to lie, I spent a lot of time while reading asking her why she was taking those girls away from NYC when it didn’t look like they really wanted to go (her oldest especially had reasons to stay in the city). Brian also used his connections to make her ex’s life miserable that I was in favor of as a reader, but at the same time I had to wonder just how ethical they were, especially for a guy who was so focused on the NJ Bar Association finding out that he had the hots for his client.

But I digress 😉

Overall this might be my favorite of the series, and not just because by the end of it they’ve finally fulfilled the weird requirements of Sully and Cal’s dad’s will 😉 Jess and Brian really deserve to finally have their HEA together, and I was here for it. I really enjoyed the solutions they came up with for the conflicts that they had–the ending was just so satisfying!

While this one *could* work as a standalone, I’d really suggest reading all the books in order so that the reasons for why they’re all in the situations they are in make more sense 🙂
