Steele Brothers series, #4
BEG ME Synopsis:
Remington Steele comes to Vegas to be with his brothers and try to get over the one woman he’s never been able to forget. As childhood sweethearts, she hadn’t been able to handle his Dominant tendencies, choosing to run away without a good-bye. But when he’s suddenly face to face with Cara Winters, all grown up and finally ready to be his, Remington needs to make his own choice. To leave the past behind forever, or forgive and be with the woman he’s always loved?
Cara wasn’t ready to be the type of woman Remington needed in his life, so she disappeared and broke his heart. But she’s changed, and is ready to embrace the woman she always craved to be. She begs him to take her for one night, and Remington finally agrees. Will they get a second chance at love, or are the scars from their past too deep to heal?
Rem Steele. Last of four brothers, but definitely not least. Wowza.
And can I just say how glad I am that Ms. Probst got the whole deal about his name out of the way in the very beginning of the book? For three books it’s been driving me crazy– Remington Steele , really? Pierce Brosnan? 1980s? Why was no one else recognizing this? (I refuse to contemplate the ‘I’m just that old’ angle here, even if there is an element of truth to it, thankyouverymuch.) But obviously it’s just a case of his brothers not being as hung up on the fact as he understandably is that his mother was such an extreme fangirl.
Poor guy. But hey, there are definitely worse characters out there to be named after. I mean, Pierce Brosnan. 🙂
Anyway, we finally have the story for the fourth and final Steele brother here in Bet Me. Overall it’s a satisfying end to the series–add the “lovers with a past” troupe to some pretty intense BDSM scenes, and that’s Rem’s story. It was definitely NSFW–or for reading while lunching with your first born, for that matter; sorry, hon–but it’s a quick read on top of its steaminess so you can probably sneak it in in a setting that’s slightly more appropriate. You don’t have to have read the other three to enjoy it–all three brothers do make appearances, but pretty much anything you need to know will be briefly mentioned here.
However, if you like this one and haven’t read the other three, your TBR will most likely grow quickly. You’ve been warned.
I’ve enjoyed Ms. Probst’s foray into erotic romance so far, and am interested to see what direction she’ll take her writing in next!
Rating: 4 stars / B+
