REBEL BRIDE
Kate Meader
Release Date: October 21
She’s just jilted my teammate at the altar and I’m the one who helped her escape. We never hit it off, but I’ll still keep her safe … and pray she never learns how I really feel about her.
Summer
I can’t marry him.
I have no good reason to jilt my hockey player fiancé, except that the closer we get to the big day, the more I feel myself shrinking to a hollow shell. Two minutes after I slip into the church bathroom to calm my pre-wedding jitters, I jump out the window to make my escape …
… and land on Hatch Kershaw, my fiancé’s teammate on the Chicago Rebels.
This guy has always hated me for reasons I can’t fathom. Half the time he looks right through me, like I’m no better than the ice shavings on his skate blade. The other half? That brooding green gaze strips me bare and sees right into my soul.
Neither option is good for me, so I really shouldn’t want his help … should I?
Hatch
The bride hit me like a ton of bricks.
The last thing I expected was for my teammate’s bride to ask for my help in fleeing her wedding. Make that the second last—even more unexpected is that I said “yes.” Before I know it, I’ve driven her to my family’s vacation home because I’m a nice guy and she needs to catch her breath.
Only now, I can’t breathe around her.
Summer Landry and I have never hit it off, so why the hell am I going along with this madness? Every stolen glance and accidental touch tell me she’s off-limits, while each torturous second with her in our lakeside hideaway has me questioning everything I thought I knew about who she is and what she’s hiding.
No one can know what I did—not my teammate, not my family, not the media—or all hell will break loose. Most of all, Summer can never know why I dislike her so much.
Because if she did, I might never recover.

Review:
I absolutely loved Hatch and Summer’s story! Their future connection was hinted at in Holly Jolly Rebel , and we of course had to wait for (his sister) Addy and Lars’ story, but it was worth it!
Hatch, the eldest son of hockey legend Theo Kershaw ( Instacrush ) just joined his dad on the ice for (maybe?) his last season–and it didn’t go as well for him as he’d hoped. Is he too in his head? Lost in his famous dad’s shadow? Or is it something else? When he (literally) catches his teammate’s runaway bride as she jumps out the bathroom window, what else can he do but take her to his family’s vacation place to hideaway?
I mean–he had to, amiright? 😉
I loved watching Hatch and Summer get close in the ten days they were together in the mountains–she opening up about her past, he admitting to his insecurities about hockey after the year he just had–and might have been even more upset than Hatch was when she left to go back to Chicago. (Maybe not, but it was close, for sure.) Their will-they-won’t-they back in the real world was delicious (and watching all of the Kershaws figure it out one by one was hilarious), and again, I was practically despondent when it looked like they weren’t going to make it.
Unlike Hatch, though, I *did* know they would ultimately, because romance novel. So there’s that, at least. 😉
Not only did Hatch and Summer have fabulous chemistry and great banter, but I also thoroughly enjoyed seeing them interact with all of the other Rebels and their assorted people throughout the story, and OMG are we left with a major teaser about the next book ( Top Shelf Stud )–which cannot come out soon enough to suit me.
Technically, Rebel Bride could be read as a standalone, but why do that to yourself? At the very least, read the previous Chicago Player novella and book–better yet, read the Rookie Rebels first. I won’t even deter you from starting with Chicago Rebels if you haven’t read those yet, because OMG is it ever worth it to start at the beginning.
And since we’re all waiting (patiently!) for Jason’s book, it’ll give you something to read in the meantime 😉
Rating: 4 1/2 stars / A
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
