By Helena Hunting
Tilton University #2
Release Date: September 10, 2026

Mac Meyers.

My secret crush.

Most unattainable guy on campus.

Relentless flirt (except with me).

Being friends with the guy on campus that everyone wants comes with its own set of problems.

None of us can eat in the cafeteria without being interrupted ten times.
Well, I’ve had enough.

So the most unhinged thing comes out of my mouth: I tell them to leave my boyfriend alone.

Except Mac is not my boyfriend.

Not even close.

Until he looks at me like I have the most inspired idea.

My name is Ophelia Forrest-Hammer, and Mac Meyers wants to be my fake boyfriend.

But I wish he was my real one.

Review:

This was really cute 🙂

Mac and Fee really put the readers (and themselves) through it–first they’re friends, secretly crushing on each other but not admitting it, for reasons. Then they hatch their fake dating scheme (poor, sweet Mac–he’s just too nice to ever tell his legions of fans an actual no thank you and needs a girlfriend to protect him from them), which thankfully lasts another hot minute before they realize the truth–that they both want to date for real. And not a moment too soon, because seriously, the only ones they were fooling by keeping their feelings hidden was themselves 😉

Watching them navigate what is essentially their first adult relationship together (Mac’s technically a virgin!) was a lot of fun, though it was angsty at times as well. Mac’s a year ahead of Fee, and her abandonment issues caused by the death of her parents have her stressing even more than she might have otherwise about where he’ll be next year and what it will mean for them. He’s worried that his hockey game isn’t where it should be, and all of the hockey legends in his new girlfriend’s life often add to the pressure he feels about his ability to play his sport.

And speaking of hockey legends…

The found family aspect of the Tilton U/Toronto Terror books (with a few Pucked series characters thrown in for good measure) is top notch–I love how everyone is always looking out for everyone else in this universe. That said, you can absolutely read this as a standalone, but reading it after having read the others will give you a fuller picture of who all of these people are and why they all will always show up for each other.

I listened to the audio version of this book, and though both narrators did a nice job (duet style, baby!) I couldn’t help but think that Mac’s narrator sounded a little old for his character. Fee’s was fabulous, though–and the way she voiced Ariel (Fee’s little niece) was too stinking cute for words. 🙂
